certified site safety manager

A certified Site Safety Manager is required to oversee safety on construction sites of buildings 15 stories and higher. Working hand-in-hand with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), safety managers enforce safety regulations and policies. This position also helps construction managers think proactively, so that they may prevent an accident, and that they will be first on the scene, in the event that an accident occurs.

Certified Site Safety Coordinator

A certified Site Safety Coordinator is required to oversee safety on construction sites up to 14 stories. A certified Site Safety Coordinator is required on new buildings 10 to 14 stories under construction or demolition. 

Registered Construction Superintendent

A registered Construction Superintendent is required to oversee safety on construction sites up to 9 stories. A superintendent of construction is required for the construction or demolition of such other buildings as identified pursuant to rules promulgated by the commissioner.

CONCRETE SAFETY MANAGERS

A certified Concrete Safety Manager must be present during concrete operations that involve the placement of 2,000 cubic yards or more of concrete.

FIRE SAFETY MANAGERS

The Construction Site Fire Safety Manager (CSFSM) shall conduct an inspection of the construction site and all fire safety measures on at least a daily basis, and maintain a record when construction, demolition and alteration work is being conducted. The Construction Site Fire Safety Manager is required where a Site Safety Manager or Site Safety Coordinator is required by the Building Code for a construction site. 

QUALIFIED PERSON FOR SITE SAFETY

A Qualified Person for Site Safety is a person who meets the training requirements of NYC Building Code Chapter 33 and is designated by the SSM. The QPSS maintains required safety log books Conducts daily safety inspection ensuring compliance with safety regulations Provides daily written reports reporting including unsafe work practice.
